F.A. Charter Standard

Maypole F.C. achieved F.A. Charter Standard in September 2005 after achieving standards set by the F.A. that represent best practice for coaching, administration and child protection for clubs working with young people.

FA Charter Standard Clubs are required to meet FA criteria, ensuring they provide opportunities for players irrespective of age, gender, religion and ability. The project is aimed at helping children and parents find a club in their local area that meets F.A. standards.

Clubs must also provide qualified coaches, first aiders and child protection officers.

To be recognised in such a way by the F.A. is a considerable achievement for all that have been involved in gaining the Charter for the club and for all the managers who have attained F.A Level 1, 2 & 3 badges.

F.A. Community Standard

Maypole F.C. achieved F.A. Community Club status in February 2009 and are very proud to of achieved the highest accolade within the F.A. structure.

What is Community Status?

At first, clubs acheive Charter Standard Club Status it is then followed by Development Club Status with the pinnacle of club development pathway being the attainment of Community Club status.
Within the Birmingham County FA we are are only one of 12 affiliated clubs out of 2500 that has acheived the Community status.

The FA Community Club scheme builds upon the foundations of the Charter Standard scheme in placing clubs at the heart of their community.
Community Clubs will be those that have a high quality, multi-team set up with excellent social, training and playing opportunities for all. As such, the number of Community Clubs is one of the truest measures of success for The FA Football Development strategy.

Although gaining Community Club status cannot guarantee funding from the Football Foundation for facility improvement, gaining the kite-mark has already been a significant factor in assisting clubs like Maypole to fund applications by providing evidence of a commitment to providing a sporting facility for use by the entire community.
